Our First Blog

Hello! I'm Bernabé, the creator and founder of The Real Coffee Shop. First off, I want to thank you for taking the time to read this blog. I'll try to be professional and straightforward in what I write, so you can understand my thoughts clearly. But to start, let me make it clear that I'm a coffee roaster, not a writer, haha.

I want to divide this blog into three parts: first, I'll share a bit about myself and how I came to create this business, including the name, etc. Second, I'll talk about CBD (what it is and its benefits). And third, I'll describe where I want to go with this combination.

I really love coffee. Many years ago, Starbucks arrived in Argentina and I worked at the fifth store in the country. As part of the protocol, I had to take barista classes. That was perhaps my first professional connection with coffee. I learned a lot about different flavors, roasting methods, processes, and regions. It was quite interesting. To work at Starbucks, we had to pass an exam that included a coffee tasting. It was great! I really learned a lot, and since then, I've become a lover of good coffee. Wow, writing this now brings back many memories of the store in Buenos Aires; it was so much fun!I've always had a passion for coffee.

Years ago, I lived in Amsterdam, a city where you could legally grow, buy, and smoke cannabis. Until then, my experience with cannabis was limited to discreet joints in the park, hidden from view. But now it's legal? Wow! Since then, I've been fascinated by the movement towards legalization. Today, we have so much information about every detail of cannabis, from its flavors to its medicinal properties. It's not just about smoking anymore; there are so many other of healthier ways to use it. My journey with this started in the famous Coffee Shops, where you could legally consume marijuana. They were called that not because they sold coffee, but because supposedly the smoke-filled places gave the walls a coffee-colored tint. Well, that's the story we told tourists; who knows if it's true. One thing's for sure: they didn't sell coffee there.

I think you're starting to see why I chose the name for this project: The Real Coffee Shop, a place where coffee and the plant truly come together.

Next, let's talk about CBD (Cannabidiol) and how it differs from THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol). CBD has gained quite a reputation for its potential health benefits, and unlike THC, it won't get you high. Instead, CBD is celebrated for its therapeutic properties, which can include easing pain, reducing anxiety, lifting mood, and even supporting the treatment of certain neurological conditions. It's like a soothing balm without the mind-altering effects you might associate with THC.

What's remarkable about CBD is its versatility. People are turning to it as a natural alternative to traditional medications because it offers relief without the intoxicating side effects. Imagine feeling more relaxed without feeling out of control or impaired—CBD makes that possible.

On the other hand, THC is the compound responsible for the euphoric high associated with marijuana. It's great for recreational use and can also have therapeutic benefits, I mean recreational is medicinal right? but it's not for everyone or every situation. CBD, however, appeals to a broader audience because of its gentle nature and wide-ranging applications.

In summary, CBD offers a way to experience the soothing benefits of cannabis without the high. It's like tapping into the plant's therapeutic potential while keeping your feet firmly planted on the ground. Whether you're managing everyday stress or seeking relief from chronic pain, CBD provides a natural, friendly option to explore.

Thirdly, where do I want to take you? Well, here we go: I've divided it into three steps—Enjoy, Observe, and Evaluate.

No matter your ritual, whether it's in the morning or afternoon, I want you to enjoy your coffee. I work hard to ensure it's a great cup. In this case, I bring green coffee beans from Colombia, directly from a farmer. We roast them in-house, well, in a factory where I can legally work with CBD and infuse it. We aim for a medium roast to bring out its best, ensuring freshness by working in small batches. This coffee has notes of white chocolate, a hint of caramel, and hazelnut. It's rich, full-bodied, yet smooth. I want you to savor every sip.

You won't feel an immediate change or the effects of CBD after your first cup; the doses are subtle. But after couple days, I want you to observe. Do you feel it? Are you more alert? Focused? Maybe your mood is lifted. I want you to observe yourself and listen to your body.

Personally, I go through a 12oz bag of coffee per month—I'd say I drink coffee about 25 days a month. There are times I skip a day, and that's okay. But overall, when you finish your bag, I want you to evaluate. Did you sleep better? Feel more balanced? Have more energy? Evaluate it! Do you like it? Great! Not your thing? That's okay too!

My next goal is to work with coffee from other regions and different CBD doses. I chose 300mg because it suits me well—it's what I enjoy. But maybe you prefer a lower or stronger dose. Write to me and let me know! I'll have more options in the future; this is just the beginning.

I want to make it clear—I'm not a doctor, and I'm not prescribing medicine. If you have health concerns and want to treat them, I recommend consulting your doctor.

To wrap up this blog, thank you for reading, and I hope we both enjoy THE REAL COFFEE SHOP.
